Building Community and Combating Hate: Lessons for the Middle School Classroom
This resource is a compilation of lesson plans exploring four themes focused on (1) interpersonal communication/conflict resolution, (2) the escalation of hate and violence, (3) the consequences of scapegoating and bias in history, and (4) the rights, challenges, and responsibilities of living in a democracy.
Use this resource as a companion to the Program Activity Guide, 2d ed. Teachers and other adults who work with youth are encouraged to use as many of the lessons as possible to ensure that all of the key concepts discussed throughout the Program Activity Guide are addressed.
